The Ludlow Select Board voted unanimously to approve a resolution supporting the Brattleboro Hospital Birthing Center after the Select Board received a letter from Brattleboro’s Select Board. Penny Wu described staffing pressures and declining birth rates at the center and said Ludlow’s endorsement would entail no financial commitment from the town.
"This has no financial commitments on the part of the Town of Ludlow," Penny Wu said during the discussion. Justin Hyjek moved to approve the resolution and George Tucker Jr. seconded; the motion passed unanimously. Noah Schmidt asked whether the endorsement was strictly symbolic; Wu said her independent review found staffing and birth-rate challenges but she had no recommendation against issuing support.
