The Ludlow Select Board unanimously accepted a bid from United Construction & Forestry to supply a John Deere 317P compact track loader for $99,973. Penny Wu and Ron Tarbell recommended the vendor after reviewing four bids; the board approved the recommendation in a motion by George Tucker Jr., seconded by Scott Baitz.
Penny Wu said the purchase met the bid specifications and noted the town had budgeted a five‑year lease for $336,500; she characterized the award as a substantial savings. “We had budgeted a 5-year lease for $336,500 – this is a $236,000 savings,” Penny Wu said. Board members asked about delivery timing and whether the purchase fit the current fiscal year budget; Wu said capital funds were available through previously approved 1% funds for capital equipment. The board voted to award the contract unanimously.
The motion directs municipal staff to finalize purchase paperwork and schedule delivery; the board recorded no amendments to the award.
