Finance committee refers three bids back to departments with lowest-bidder authorization

At its May 28, 2026 meeting the Berrien County Finance Committee voted to refer bids 2026-045, 2026-060, and 2026-061 back to the originating department, authorizing the department to proceed with the lowest bidder provided that bidder is an approved responsible bidder and meets specifications and requirements. The minutes say the action was intended "in order to not delay these bids with regards to the upcoming finance committee schedule."
Committee minutes require that if a department wishes to move forward with a bidder who is not the lowest bidder, the department must communicate to the Finance Committee to provide justification and obtain additional approval.
