At 46 Everett Street the applicant and contractor proposed replacing a failing balustrade and decking and asked to use TimberTech composite decking and a period-appropriate sawn balustrade. Applicant Belanger cited historic precedent and neighborhood examples and emphasized durability: "TimberTech seemed to outweigh the other option," the applicant said while discussing rot issues affecting decks on the street.
Commissioners agreed to split the application: they conditionally approved the decking material with a requirement to add a border detail to improve continuity with the existing front entry material, and continued the balustrade design to allow the applicant to return with drawings and more detailed historic references. Commissioners requested that the applicant coordinate with the preservation planner and bring physical samples and drawings for the May meeting.
