The Douglas County Public Assemblage Licensing Review Committee reviewed the permit application for Bowfest 2026 at a meeting on May 12, 2026, and approved issuance of the license contingent on payment and confirmation that required fire and emergency personnel will be present.
The meeting record noted, "All requirements for application have been met thus far." Committee members discussed logistics for safety services: the Town of Superior Fire Department’s process may shift from immediate sign-off to a formal approval process, and the department’s chief will provide an estimate for fire suppression services (the record notes the estimate last year was $1,000). Law enforcement for the event will be provided by the Douglas County Sheriff.
County Clerk Kaci Jo Lundgren will invoice the applicant, Mont Du Lac Resort, and the license will be issued once payment is received. The committee said that if part-time deputies are used and the billed rate is higher than the actual cost, "the applicant will be refunded the difference after festival." No motions, votes, or objections were recorded in the meeting minutes. The committee adjourned at 2:16 p.m.
