The Newport Zoning Board of Review on April 28 voted unanimously to grant a second 12‑month extension for the project at 169 Wellington Avenue.
Counsel for the applicant explained the property’s pickleball court has been built but the pool portion remains delayed "really just a matter of financing" and because the applicant has not yet found a suitable pool contractor. The chair then put a motion on the floor to grant a second 12‑month extension and the board approved it without opposition.
The extension was recorded with the usual condition that the project be started and substantially completed within the granted period or that an extension be requested before expiration. The board’s action allows the applicant more time to secure financing and a contractor and keeps the original approval in effect for another year.
