Board approves equipment purchases for fire and police departments

Staff presented multiple equipment purchases for public-safety and municipal operations. The fire/administration team presented two quotes for a new ID printer (quotes listed at $4,531.84 and $4,242.34) and the board voted to buy the U.S.-made Apollo printer. "The 1 that's a little more expensive... it's the Apollo," a staff speaker said; the board moved and recorded a vote in favor of purchasing the U.S.-made unit.
The police department requested a Motorola in-car camera system for $6,233 with a three-year subscription to a video-evidence-management system, vehicle decals/outfitting priced in discussion at $16,911, and rugged vehicle computers for $5,442. Staff said the camera purchase would be drawn from the department's PNP fund. Purchase motions for these items were moved, seconded and approved by trustee vote. In separate action, staff presented a $7,750 quote to install door-opener hardware (transmitters and remotes) for municipal garages; trustees approved moving forward with that purchase as well.
Board members discussed warranty and service considerations for equipment and the need to surplus older gear where new purchases are intended to replace aging assets. Several surplus-and-destroy proposals for old SCBA packs, generators and other gear were raised by fire staff and advanced for board approval.
