Airport Director Miles Weaver presented the Authority’s report on projects, funding and operations during the May 18 meeting. He told the board that the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy (EGLE) awarded $150,000 to remove existing Aqueous Film Forming Foam (AFFF) and prepare equipment for fluorine-free foam replacement, and that Mead & Hunt is preparing the RFP for ARFF truck cleanout work.
Weaver also updated the board on capital schedules: the T‑Hangar door replacement grant was submitted to MDOT and construction is anticipated in spring 2027 pending funding. On air service metrics, Weaver reported April 2026 enplanements of 531 compared with 424 in April 2025 and cited a load factor of 34.0% (available seats 1,560); April performance showed 79% on-time, 17% delays and 4% cancellations, with most disruptions tied to weather at ORD. ARFF live-fire training was completed May 11 with local fire department participation, and a periodic inspection is anticipated in late July.
