The Manistee County Blacker Airport Authority on May 18 authorized MDOT Amendment A3 to Contract No. 2025-0444, extending the contract term to Sept. 30, 2026 to give the airport more time to complete the Terminal Narrative, Runway Length Justification Study and related air service marketing work. Chair Dyllan Walker presided over the vote, which passed 4–0 with three members absent.
Board member Jeff Dontz moved the approval and George Becker supported the motion. The written amendment states the contract term is extended by 13 months: "In order to extend the CONTRACT term by 13 month(s), Section 17 of the CONTRACT is amended to read as follows: 'This contract will be in effect from the date of award through 9/30/2026;'" The amendment waives any claims the airport may have against MDOT arising from the need to amend or extend the contract.
Airport staff have been working on related items including a runway justification and terminal study and planned air service marketing; the amendment is intended to align the contract schedule with the Authority's project timeline. The board recorded the vote as Yeas: 4 (Dontz, Goodman, Walker, Becker); Absent: 3 (Kaminski, Picardat, Schrader).
