"My first involvement in this issue was 2021," the presenter said, outlining how snails breed in treatment filters and trigger expensive emergency shutdowns to clean them. He proposed a phased study: data collection and a short test run without the filters; if infeasible, the study would be dropped; if feasible, the board would decide on next steps and cost tradeoffs. The presenter also noted outside plant experts would be involved in modeling and testing.
