A consultant presenting by Zoom summarized the study and the state caps, telling the board: "Your developer fees are charged per square foot for both residential and commercial industrial, properties." He said the state board raised the allowable Level 1 residential fee in January 2024 and recommended the district collect the $5.17-per-square-foot residential fee and $0.84 per square foot for commercial/industrial (with mini-storage at $0.07). After brief questions, a trustee moved the recommendation and the motion passed by voice vote.
Staff told the board the revenues collected can be used for new construction or modernization projects that add capacity for students generated by development. The public hearing on the study closed before the board took the action; the item will be reflected in the district's capital facilities planning as the board moves forward.
