Board adopts revised policies on religious recognition, special education services and controversial issues

The Santee School District Board approved three revised board policies at its Dec. 3 meeting: BP 6141.2 (Recognition of Religious Beliefs and Customs), BP 6159.2 (Nonpublic, Nonsectarian School and Agency Services for Special Education), and BP 6144 (Controversial Issues).
"President Burns noted there were three (3) second readings," the board record states. Member Dianne El-Hajj moved approval; the motion passed on a 5-0 vote. The board did not record further amendments to the policies during the meeting.
The policies will be incorporated into the district policy manual per board practice and take effect according to the district’s policy adoption timeline.
