Santee board approves positive certification for First Interim financial report

The Santee School District Board voted 5-0 on Dec. 3 to give positive certification for the First Interim financial report as of Oct. 31, 2024, following a presentation by Assistant Superintendent of Business Services Dr. Marcia Hamilton.
"[I] recommended the Board approve positive certification for the First Interim report regarding the District’s ability to meet its financial obligations for the 2024-25 fiscal year and two subsequent years," Dr. Marcia Hamilton said, thanking Fiscal Services Director Sema Albadrani and her team for compiling the data. Hamilton noted the Governor’s Proposed Budget would be released in January, that the Second Interim would be shared in March, and that the May Revise will inform preparations for the 2025–26 budget adoption in June.
Member Dianne El-Hajj moved approval; the motion carried on a 5-0 vote. The board did not attach conditions to the certification at the time of the vote and staff said they would continue monitoring state budget developments.
