"I spoke with the park department. They've exchanged out the bulbs in the old bandstand right here with purple bulbs, and that looks pretty good," the board member said.
The revised plan would put purple bulbs in the taller lights that lead out to the pier, leaving the shorter walkway bollard lights at standard color so pedestrians retain adequate illumination. The speaker said the park department has trialed purple bulbs in the bandstand and that staff hopes to install the bulbs within about a week.
The plan was described as a practical compromise after budget and timing constraints prevented the originally discussed catwalk lighting; no formal vote was recorded on this item.
