The Astoria City Council approved a budget amendment Feb. 2 to transfer $40,000 from contingency to the Parks Operations Fund to replace two failing sewage pumps at the city-owned building used by Bumble Childcare (the former Astoria Yacht Club building).
Staff said the pumps are critical to maintaining an operational sewage system at the childcare site and that the estimate for replacement is roughly $40,000. “We think it's gonna cost roughly $40,000 to replace both of those pumps,” staff said. Because the amount exceeds the 15% threshold for the affected fund, council approval was required; the council approved the transfer by motion (moved by Councilor Adams, seconded by Councilor Conklin) and recorded unanimous ayes.
Staff noted contingency remaining is $75,000 and will cover the requested transfer; no public comment was offered on the item.
