The Berrien County Board of Commissioners on May 28 authorized an amendment to the county’s agreement with Correctional Healthcare Companies (CHC) to continue providing health-care services at the Berrien County Juvenile Center for Jan. 1–Dec. 31, 2026. The resolution (A2605209) was added to and approved on the Consent Calendar.
Vice Chairperson Teri Sue Freehling called for the roll; the clerk recorded 11 yeas, 0 nays and the motion carried. The amendment continues CHC’s administration of correctional health services and sets the base compensation rate “as approved by the Trial Court,” per the resolution language read into the record.
The resolution’s preamble notes the county and Trial Court are charged by law with oversight of health-care delivery for juveniles at the facility and references a prior Board authorization of the CHC agreement. No dollar amounts or rate details were included in the minutes; those compensation figures are recorded as approved by the Trial Court.
