Principals report STAR gains, All-State honors and Winterfest fundraising

Stark County CUSD 100 principals told the board on Jan. 20 that winter STAR assessments show measurable growth across grade levels and highlighted recent and upcoming student activities.
Elementary Principal Emily Mastin told the board seven new students started that day, credited the district’s BIST Vision Team and instructional coaching with improved student self-regulation and fewer office discipline referrals, and said preschool screening will be Feb. 27 at the Stark County Athletic Complex. "We want to celebrate the growth that we saw on our Math and ELA STAR assessments in December," Mastin said.
Jr./Sr. High Principal Megan McGann reported major growth in junior high and high school ELA and math on winter STAR testing, reminded parents that Semester 1 report cards are available in Skyward, and noted All-State Choir and Band honorees who will perform at the Peoria Civic Center later this month. McGann also thanked Athletic Director Roland Brown and community donors after the district’s Country Roads Classic Tournament, saying the varsity boys took first place.
The principals said they will continue to use assessment data to guide instruction and will support students attending regional music events and upcoming school fundraising activities.
