Rebecca Saner addressed the board during visitor comments on Nov. 17, describing what she characterized as a breakdown in communication after her 17-year-old son left campus following an incident in the Recovery Room. Saner said she had been texting the Recovery Room supervisor and that the supervisor knew the student was off campus, but no administrator called her; she then called the principal after school.
Saner told the board an administrator should have contacted her immediately and raised a broader concern about communications from the high school administration. No board action was taken during the meeting; the comment was recorded in the minutes for follow-up.
The meeting record does not include a formal administrative response at the meeting beyond the parent’s account; district leaders and the board may follow up outside the public minutes.
