Bonifiglia Foundation seeks board support for $500,000 downtown façade and mural program

Judy Wenzel, executive director of the Bonifiglia Family Foundation, told the Seneca Falls Town Board the foundation has spent the last 18 months researching a downtown façade/storefront revitalization program and plans to launch a program and workshop between March and April 2025.
Wenzel said the foundation is working with the Seneca Falls Development Corporation and Insight Architecture, and that “approximately a $500,000 has been allocated toward the planning and implementation basis of this program.” She described eligible work as signage, awnings, repointing, painting and door replacement, and said the foundation will host a workshop to inform downtown building and business owners about eligibility and timelines. Wenzel also proposed installing 2–3 large‑scale murals downtown and identified 89 Fall Street (the Seneca Falls Museum & Tourism Center) as a potential mural site; she said if a municipal site is selected the foundation may seek the town as a funding partner or assistance with wall preparation.
Board members expressed support and asked for follow‑up; Sean of MRV/MRE Group said his team expects later agenda items proposing a SEQR declaration and rezoning work to facilitate downtown redevelopment. The presentation concluded with the board agreeing to revisit the program at a subsequent meeting and a request that the foundation post more information online for public review.
