Seneca Falls honors Amazon delivery worker and two officers for lifesaving actions

The Seneca Falls Town Board on Feb. 4 presented civilian and police awards recognizing two life‑saving incidents last year.
At the meeting Chief Schneider commended Tyler Elton of Syracuse Logistics for intervening on Dec. 14, 2024, when he discovered smoke at a Joanna Avenue home and “assisted both women out of the burning structure to safety.” The chief said Elton’s “swift actions … directly contributed to prevent the tragedy.” The board also presented life‑saving and excellence awards to Officers Matthew Mix and Humberto Flores for their response to an Oct. 27 structure fire on Oldham Street; the chief said their quick response and teamwork were “instrumental in saving the life of an individual in danger.”
Town Supervisor Frank Schmitter thanked the honorees and noted the awards are given only for exceptional acts of bravery. The board’s formal recognition does not create any new policy but highlights recent public‑safety responses and the department’s account of the incidents.
