At its March 12 meeting the Waterloo Board of Education approved several personnel items recommended by the superintendent: new contracts for Alexis Lenz (elementary intervention specialist), Deborah Parr (cafeteria assistant), and Brady Jones (high school social studies teacher for 2026–27). Members congratulated Brady, noting his substitute work this year and community ties to the district.
The board also approved the retirement of Cynthia Cooper Cook effective July 1, 2026 after 24 years, and accepted the resignation of Zachary Rogers as spring weight room advisor effective March 2. Substitute contracts were approved for Zach Rogers (classified) and Bridal Norris (certified), and supplemental coaching stipends were granted to Mackenzie Webb (assistant girls wrestling coach) and Joseph Hicken (assistant boys wrestling coach). Superintendent or board comments clarified that Joe Hicken had previously served on the board prior to January 1 and will receive prorated stipend now that he is no longer a board member.
Why it matters: these actions affect staffing and student services for the coming school year and spring activities. The board recorded unanimous approval for the listed personnel items and directed staff to process contracts and payroll changes.
