Skokie SD 69 narrows 2024–25 strategic tasks; plans full strategic rewrite for 2026

Dr. Margaret Clauson, Superintendent of Skokie School District 69 (Skokie SD 69), and Dr. Megan Aseltine, Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning, presented updated Strategic Plan goals and the administration’s revised Multi-Year Implementation Plan for 2024–25.
Clauson said the plan was narrowed because post‑COVID realities — including severe staffing shortages, increased staff turnover, higher intensity of student behavior, and the end of some federal funding — changed the district’s capacity to take on new initiatives. She told the Board the administration removed items labeled “continuing” or “sustaining” from the year's prioritized tasks to concentrate on the highest needs.
Dr. Aseltine said the district will conduct an extensive stakeholder input process during 2025–26, including focus groups and surveys, with the goal of finalizing a 2026–2031 Strategic Plan by March 2026. The Board was given progress updates such as the Parent Mentor Program—this year’s cohort includes 29 parents who become eligible for a $1,500 stipend after 100 hours of service.
