Skokie D69 wins $221,635 Stronger Connections grant for SEL, anti-bullying work

Dr. Margaret Clauson, Superintendent, told the Board that School District 69 was awarded a Stronger Connections Grant from the Illinois State Board of Education totaling $221,635 to support social-emotional learning and targeted student services.
The one‑year grant is intended to fund (1) professional development for all staff, (2) a social‑emotional learning curriculum enhancement pilot to complement the district’s core program Second Step, (3) direct student services focused on bullying and hate speech, and (4) culturally responsive family and community wraparound services. The administration said the grant can be extended through March 2026.
Board members were informed the grant dollars will be used to strengthen Tier II/Tier III interventions and support training for school psychologists and staff who lead MTSS, Section 504 and special education processes.
