Ely board accepts retirements, approves leaves, hires and coach appointments

The Ely School Board approved multiple personnel actions as part of the Personnel Consent Agenda. The board accepted the retirement of Social Studies teacher Tom McDonald and the resignation of Science teacher Logan McLouth, both effective at the end of the 2025–2026 school year. The board approved a three-year extended leave request by Kaley Hotaling under Minnesota Statute 122A.46 and Article X, Section 6 of the master agreement, and approved a leave for Sheila Angus beginning Feb. 16, 2026 through the end of the 2025–2026 school year under Article IX, No. 7 of the Master Agreement with AFSCME Local No. 295.
The board also authorized hires and coaching appointments: Amrita Peterson was hired as a temporary assistant cook (6 hours/day, 5 days/week, student contact days) effective March 9, 2026; Wendy Lindsay was approved as assistant girls track coach; and volunteer coaches approved included Jolene Schreffler and Autumn Walker for softball, Jim Wittrup for baseball, and Cole Kellogg for football for the 2026 season. All personnel consent items carried by a 6–0 vote.
