Gary Vandiver, representing Team Court, asked the board for use of a school bus to take participants to the Tennessee Court of Appeals in Nashville on April 8. Vandiver said four cases would be on the docket that morning and the group planned to view at least three before returning in the afternoon.
"What I am asking for is the use of a school bus to take the kids down," Vandiver said, requesting a 7:30 a.m. departure from the Wilson County Criminal Justice Center and noting the group would pay for the bus. Trustees discussed routing and staffing of transportation, and staff said they would coordinate with transportation to secure a sub driver if necessary.
After discussion a motion was made and the board approved the request. Vandiver thanked the board for the support of the teen court program and its volunteer structure.
