During the public-comment period, dealer Ed Opoff said he has operated Opoff Motor Sales for 27 years and disputed city enforcement requiring his lot to be restriped. "My name is Ed Opoff. I own Opoff Motor Sales," he told the council, saying the city informed him he must eliminate a curve on Division Avenue at a cost of $8,000 to $10,000 or face fines of $2,500.
Opoff said he met with city staff and the fire marshal on May 28 and that the parties reached a verbal agreement to resolve his situation on a case-by-case basis; he asked the council to review the matter at the council's earliest convenience. Council members said they would gather the facts before taking a position and that staff would provide additional information to the council.
