Team links to PACE and IREC grant work; plans EV-readiness workshop and local ordinance review

The sustainability team reported progress on municipal EV readiness after connecting local contacts to Jeremy at PACE, which secured grant support from IREC to expand charging-smart work across Connecticut.
"There will be a workshop for towns about EV readiness and how to go about that on October 16 in New Haven," the chair said, urging members to attend. The team noted that New Haven already has proposed ordinance language for EV charger readiness and agreed to share that model with local zoning staff (Jim) and adapt it for East Haddam.
Members described the grant as enabling statewide technical assistance and peer learning through PACE. The chair also noted possibilities for placing an EV charger on town property in a designated area that could qualify for approximately $40,000 in rebates if sited in a distressed neighborhood, or alternatively to apply rebate funds toward solar on a proposed community water-tower project.
Next steps include circulating the Oct. 16 workshop agenda, connecting Jim (zoning staff) with Jeremy for technical help, and assessing sites for potential rebate eligibility.
