Sustainability team plans townwide home-energy mailing using remaining grant funds

The East Haddam Sustainability Team reviewed options to revive its home-energy outreach after noting past success with a mailed letter that generated a substantial uptick in sign-ups for no-cost home energy assessments.
"When we sent that letter out, I have to look at the numbers, but I think we ended up getting 30 or 40 people in the town to sign up," Jesse Scott said, describing the previous campaign as more effective than event-based promotion. Team members said a similar townwide mailing could be mailed again using leftover funds from an Eversource grant.
The group reported approximately $20,000 remains from the earlier Eversource-funded program; members said only a portion of those funds have been spent so far and that mailing costs run into the low thousands but are feasible with bulk postage. The chair and Jesse agreed to reconnect with Eversource contacts (Devon/Devin/Amber) to obtain an updated sample letter and confirm logistics for a new mailing.
Members also discussed targeted outreach through houses of worship and a blanket mailing that reaches every East Haddam post office box. The team set follow-up steps: Jesse will ping Devin for the updated grant-supported letter and the team will prepare a mailing if the grant program allows.
