The Montgomery County Commission on Wednesday voted to appoint Regina Walker as acting county administrator for a 90‑day period while the county conducts a search for a permanent administrator.
Diana Patterson, the county's HR director, told the commission the temporary appointment is intended to bridge operations while the recruitment proceeds. "This role would be for 90 days, after which Miss Walker will return to her current position as deputy administrator," Patterson said, adding that the search will remain open until Aug. 18.
Commissioners asked about timing and whether the hiring process could be completed within the 90‑day window; Patterson said the start date for a new administrator could depend on the candidate's current commitments. A motion to appoint Walker was moved and seconded and the commission approved the appointment by voice vote.
The action is intended to maintain continuity in county administration while staff proceed with the search. The commission did not provide a roll‑call tally at the meeting; commissioners indicated unanimous consent by voice.
