Chair delays Tucker Mountain ordinances to remove Class 4 road references, considers trail conversion to allow locked gates

Tom Kidder, chair of the Tucker Management Committee, said the committee will delay approval of revised Tucker Mountain ordinances so he can remove references to Class 4 roads following selectboard discussion. He said gates on Class 4 roads are illegal to lock under current rules and that converting the affected road to a forest trail by December 1 would allow locking gates as part of access control.
Tom also described plans to improve signage to make gate-closure information more visible to trail and road users. The committee did not take a formal vote on ordinances at the June 1 meeting and made no final decision on conversion timing; Tom indicated the delay is intended to incorporate the selectboard's input.
