Dr. Kenneth Estes, District Chair, opened the District 12-4A Executive Committee Organizing Meeting on May 5, 2026, at the Alvarado ISD Boardroom and announced that "a quorum was present." The meeting convened after members introduced themselves and ran from the advertised 8:30 a.m. start time to an adjournment at 9:47 a.m.
The committee confirmed it would follow the UIL Constitution and Contest Rules for conduct and scheduling and reviewed several specific UIL sections in advance. Members discussed administrative plans and tentative schedules for Cross Country, Golf, Soccer, Baseball, Softball and Track. Ms. Griselda Ponce will distribute administrative plans to DEC members once received so the group can finalize tournament dates around school testing schedules.
The meeting included representatives from several member districts: Dr. Estes (Superintendent, Alvarado ISD); Tony Castillo (Athletic Director, Ferris ISD); Dr. Rich Dear (Superintendent, Godley ISD); Courtney Hewitt (Athletic Director, Hillsboro ISD); Michael Welch (Assistant Athletic Director, Waxahachie Life Schools); Colten Gober (Athletic Director, Venus ISD); and Richard Barrett (Athletic Director, Kennedale ISD). No formal roll-call votes or amendments were recorded during the session.
