Board approves multiple student out-of-state trips for JROTC, drill, archery, drone and thespian groups

Alvarado ISD trustees unanimously approved travel for JROTC and extracurricular teams to national competitions, including trips to Washington, D.C.; Daytona, FL; Fort Leonard Wood, MO; Columbus, GA; and Bloomington, IN.
At the March 16 meeting trustees approved multiple out-of-state travel requests for school teams and scholars. Approved trips included: the JROTC National Academic Bowl in Washington, D.C. (2 educators and 4 cadets), the U.S. Army Cadet Command National Drill Team Championship in Daytona, Fla. (4 educators and 15 cadets), the JROTC National Archery Championship in Fort Leonard Wood, Mo. (2 educators and 8 cadets), the JROTC National Drone Championship in Columbus, Ga. (1 educator and 8 cadets), and the International Thespian Festival in Bloomington, Ind. (3 educators and 24 scholars). Motions for each trip were approved unanimously (7–0).
Board members moved and seconded the items across two agenda segments; the motions recorded the number of educators and students traveling for each event but did not include trip cost estimates or funding sources on the public record. Administration will proceed with travel arrangements under board authorization.
