Lamar CISD reports rapid growth in dual‑credit participation and credentialed instructors

Trustees asked about credentialing, whether dual‑credit instructors are district employees (staff said credentialed dual‑credit instructors are Lamar CISD employees), cost to students (Lone Star fee shown as $129 per three‑credit course; students on free or reduced lunch qualify for HB 8 FAST support and pay no fee), and whether credits transfer to students’ chosen universities. Staff described counseling supports to help families understand AP versus dual‑credit choices and noted a pilot 'Pathway to an Associate Degree' at Thomas High School serving a cohort of freshmen.
