Alba-Golden ISD trustees voted against approving either a retrofit of seat belts for existing buses or the purchase of new buses through 2029, citing insufficient budget funds.
The motion, moved by Charles Lennon and seconded by Dwayne Ellis, stated: “I move to not approve the retrofit of bus seat belts or the purchase of new ones through 2029 due to the lack of available funds in the budget.” The motion passed with six yeas and one absence (Mike Ragsdale). The board record provided does not show alternative funding proposals or a timetable for revisiting the issue.
District transportation staff and administration will continue to manage fleet maintenance within the district budget; any future proposals for retrofits or vehicle replacement will require explicit board approval and budget allocation.
