Victoria Foley, a kindergarten parent, described coming to Hutto ISD expecting stable classrooms but instead finding multiple teacher changes without clear communication.
"The biggest grievance I have is the communication with parents concerning anything and everything going on in the classroom," Foley said, telling trustees her son came home anxious because she could not identify or contact the classroom adult. Foley said the campus had promised a teacher by October 7 but families continued to see substitutes and were not given names or direct contacts.
Trustees acknowledged teacher shortages and said they understood constraints on pay and hiring; President Legutis asked staff to follow up with the affected campuses and to report back. Foley said parents want simple, timely notice when classroom staffing changes and improved ways to help prepare children for transitions.
The board did not take action at the workshop but directed staff to follow up with campus leaders about improving communications and notifying parents earlier when adults in the classroom change.
