WAJ Board ratifies teachers’ MOA and grants three tenure appointments

On a motion by Loni Koument-Holdridge, seconded by Alan Trinkle, the board entered executive session at 5:08 p.m. "for the purpose of collective bargaining and 4 individuals leading to the possible appointment of employment, promotion, discipline, suspension, dismissal or removal of these individuals," and reconvened at 5:20 p.m. The minutes record that, after reconvening, the board approved a Memorandum of Agreement with the Windham-Ashland-Jewett Central School Teachers’ Association covering July 1, 2026 through June 30, 2030 and approved a separate Memorandum of Agreement dated June 10, 2026 with Jordan Church.
The board also voted to grant tenure to three teachers — Laura Giarrusso (7–12 Social Studies), Sasha Kubicek (Special Education), and Kimberly Young (7–12 Social Studies) — effective Sept. 1, 2026, stating compliance with Section 3012(2) of the Education Law and part 30.3 of the Rules of the Board of Regents as the basis for the actions.
