Board approves Phase 1 capital contracts after bids come in roughly $2.6M under estimate

The board voted to award Phase 1 contracts for the district's 2024 capital improvement project after administration reported favorable bid results. Contract 101 (site work) was awarded to Foam and Asphalt Paving Corporation: base bid $1,585,000 plus alternates ($450,500 and $25,000) for a total award of $2,064,500. Contract 102 (roofing) was awarded to Weaver Metal and Roofing Incorporated: base bid $4,112,000 plus alternate for a total award of $4,854,000.
Presenter noted the bids came in substantially below the district's earlier estimates. "We want the board to be aware that, these bids came in, incredibly well to the tune of about 2,600,000 less than we had planned for," presenter said. The board discussed sequencing: parking-lot work is planned for completion this summer; roofing will be staged across two summers to stagger future roof replacements. The board approved the awards and related procurement actions by voice vote.
