The Anthony Independent School District Board of Trustees voted on Aug. 20, 2025 not to approve an updated interlocal agreement with the Town of Anthony for a School Resource Officer (SRO). Board Secretary Chrissy Sing Singh moved the motion and Board President Angel Cuellar seconded; the motion to not approve the updated agreement passed by roll call, 6–0, with one absence.
Superintendent Dr. Oscar Troncoso explained that the proposed contract cost had increased and outlined alternatives, including a district 'marshal program' that would involve district security staff such as ES security guard Abigail Calderon attending marshal training. Trustees discussed the options prior to the vote; the transcript records the decision as a vote not to approve the updated interlocal agreement.
