Angleton ISD students honored for visual art and one-act theatre performances

Angleton Junior High and Angleton High School students earned top honors at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo art competition and AJH placed second at the UIL One-Act Play district final, with several students receiving individual recognitions.
Assistant Superintendent Alicia Press recognized students from Angleton Junior High and Angleton High School for achievements in visual arts and theatre during the March 17 board meeting.
Visual art winners at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo included Landon Warren (AJH) with a gold medal for "Skull on a Fence" and Orian Marie Adams Zimmerman (AJH) with Best of Show for "Bull Rider in Motion." Angleton High winners included Vera Pelo (gold, "Connection to Native Spirit"), Amber Munoz (gold, "Artistic Expression with Cow"), Isabel Suarez‑Arambula (Best of Show, "The Bison Runners") and Sydney Cazes (Award for Excellence). Sydney Cazes is also working on a coloring book to raise money for SOAR. In theatre, Angleton Junior High placed second at the UIL One‑Act Play district final; individual honors included Nathan Jasso (Best Performer) and others recognized in all‑star cast and technician categories.
The board applauded the students and staff during the recognition portion of the agenda; no action was required.
