Mesquite ISD board approves resolution nominating Dr. Angel Rivera for Region 10 Superintendent of the Year

The Mesquite Independent School District Board of Trustees voted to approve a resolution nominating Dr. Angel Rivera, superintendent of Mesquite ISD, for Region 10 Superintendent of the Year. Sabrina Smith, a district staff member, presented the written resolution and asked trustees to sign the nomination packet.
Smith said the staff and cabinet were honored to forward the nomination, adding it "requires a resolution signed from all of you." President Carbo read the resolution language, which praised "exemplary and visionary leadership towards improving student performance in our schools." A trustee moved to approve the resolution, President Carbo seconded, and the board approved it by acclamation.
Trustees spoke in support of Rivera’s leadership. President Carbo said Rivera is "very caring about our kids" and the staff, and a trustee noted other districts look to Mesquite ISD for practices they have adopted under Rivera’s leadership. The approved resolution will accompany the nomination packet for Region 10 consideration.
