Trustees see Aubrey demo as a step toward 'data‑driven' instruction

Miss Swanson, who led the workshop demonstration, told trustees the district is working to become "a truly data driven district," describing Aubrey as a tool to help teachers and leaders track student progress and make instructional adjustments.

"Data driven instruction refers to the practice of using data from not just student assessments, but observations, other sources," Swanson said, explaining that the platform lets users drill from district‑level trends down to class and individual student views. She demonstrated 12 assessment dashboards, a nightly behavior and discipline dashboard, enrollment and demographic drill‑downs, and described ongoing integration with vendors including AP, ACT, NWEA and Renaissance/Star.

Swanson said the district is being cautious about public demonstrations because Aubrey contains confidential student information; presenters used sanitized sample data for the meeting. She described a phased rollout: administrators and principals are already using the system, teacher training will intensify in October–November, and the district aims to issue parent access "tokens" in spring 2025 after validating source data and preparing teacher and parent supports.

Trustees asked whether the platform can break assessment results down by domain and standards and how it pulls data from the student information system. Swanson and Mr. Steed said core student information (schedules, grades) syncs from Skyward and that ClassLink provides a single‑click access point. They emphasized that the tool is only effective if it is paired with a culture and time for teachers to analyze and act on data.
