Irvington Woods survey shows strong support for recreation and more programming

The Irvington Board heard results from a community-input survey of Irvington Woods Park and the O'Hare Nature Center, presented by a Woods Committee member. "We are now technically up to 4 44 resources," the Woods Committee member said, reporting the survey was live for about a month and distributed via town email blasts and other channels.
Committee presenters said respondents most often described the woods as important for recreation, green space and village ecological health, and that visitors report using the woods several times a month. The committee also said the trail map is generally useful but will be revised to incorporate user-friendly improvements, and that maintenance issues — particularly trash management and trail upkeep — were common requests. "People would like to see trash... dealt with better," the Woods Committee member said.
The presenters told trustees they will use the survey feedback to shape programming and maintenance priorities for the coming year, and plan to coordinate the Woods Committee's programming subcommittee with staff to offer more regular lectures, guided walks and youth activities.
