Abernathy ISD approves May 2, 2026 general election and joint election contract with Lubbock County

On Jan. 15 the Abernathy ISD Board approved a consent agenda that included ordering a General Election for two at-large school board trustees to be held May 2, 2026 and several associated election items. The consent package included approval of the Notice and Order for early voting and election day, a resolution to conduct a joint election with cities and schools in Lubbock County, and execution of a Joint Election Contract with Lubbock County.
The board also approved appointing Roxzine Stinson as the Joint Elections Officer and Joint Early Voting Clerk and designated the Elections Office at 1308 Crickets Avenue as the main early voting polling place. The consent agenda motion was made by Ty Horsford and seconded by Manuel Adames Jr.; the consent agenda passed 4-0 with three absences.
