Board accepts $2.065 million bid for New Hilton Drive campus project

The Brecksville–Broadview Heights City School District Board of Education on Jan. 21 approved a $2,065,300 contract award to Platform Cement Inc. for the Campus Master Plan Phase II New Hilton Drive project. The motion, made by Tish Kwiatkowski and seconded by Lisa Galek, passed on a 5–0 roll call.
Board and facilities staff said the project will construct a new driveway from the old Hilton traffic light on Mill Road to a roundabout behind the board office to improve traffic flow on the campus. Architect Architectural Vision Group reported the low Platform Cement bid came in about $242,700 under the district estimate of $2,490,000. Staff told the Board construction is expected to begin in March and to be completed by the start of the next school year; officials cautioned the work will disrupt the cross‑country course used by student athletes.
Brian Koss, the district facilities coordinator, reviewed the scope and the competitive bid tabulation during the meeting. The Board approved the contract after the administration recommended acceptance of Platform Cement’s base bid. The Architectural Vision Group recommendation letter records the award amount as "$2,065,300.00."
