Vanguard High earns Dallas County Promise recognition; district officials present award

Mesquite ISD trustees learned July 13 that Vanguard High School received a Dallas County Promise economic mobility award for exceptional growth in college readiness.
Representatives from the Economic Mobility Center said the program rewards high schools that demonstrate strong progress in college readiness and that the award includes discretionary funds for the principal to use for incentives or celebrations. "We run the Dallas County Promise and a lot of intermediary work for post secondary to workforce work across Dallas County," one presenter said while explaining the recognition.
The board and district leaders praised students and staff for the accomplishment; the presenter invited the Economic Mobility Center's Richard Owens and Eric Mann to the podium to outline how the award supports college and workforce transitions.
