Chris Contreras, the district’s emergency-operations and campus-safety coordinator, updated trustees on TEA-required security measures and the district's use of Texas A&M (TA) safety grants. He said window film and exterior door numbering have been completed at most campuses and that law enforcement agencies were given Knox-box access and override capability. “all window film and adjacent films that are being required by TEA have been completed on all campuses with the exception of Huddle High School,” he said.
Contreras outlined grant-supported investments (fencing, cameras, access control and silent-panic technology) and described a recent drill and rollout plans for silent panic‑button alerts and screen overrides. He also reported that Huddle Middle School failed an intruder audit after an inspector gained entry through an unsecured vestibule and was not asked for identification; required actions include a live training session (scheduled Nov. 6), a corrective-action plan for the district safety committee and public notice to the community.
