AHISD honors teachers and dozens of students for state and national achievements

Alamo Heights ISD used its May 13 meeting to recognize staff and students who advanced to state and national competitions.
Maricela Arce, a 1st grade Spanish immersion teacher at Woodridge, was honored for embodying the AHISD Profile of a Learner; Monica Lopez, a special education teacher at Alamo Heights High School, was named a state finalist in the H-E-B Excellence in Education Awards. The minutes list multiple student qualifiers and team achievements, including Thespian national qualifiers (Mia Joseph, Skylar Worth, Sebastian Mireles and others), VASE state qualifiers Bartlett and Anjaleen Cruz Hernandez (each received a 4 at state), UIL academic and athletic qualifiers, and Science Olympiad teams that placed at state.
