Bee Band honored for first UIL State Marching appearance in 24 years

The Academy High School Bee Band was recognized Nov. 19 after qualifying for the UIL State Marching Contest for the first time in 24 years; drum majors and captains shared reflections on the program.
Board members recognized the Academy High School Bee Band for reaching the UIL State Marching Contest — the district’s first appearance at state in 24 years. Drum majors, the guard captain and the percussion captain were present and spoke about their experience in the program and the leadership and culture promoted by band director Mrs. Essary.
Trustees applauded the students for the achievement and celebrated the band program’s role in student engagement and school tradition. There was no formal action associated with the recognition.
