Commission clarifies road access, developer must build connecting road to city standards

Commissioners pressed staff on how Plat 3 and future plats would connect to Jim Owens Road and who would build and maintain any new through road. "The developer would be required to build the road," staff member Matt said. He added that once built and accepted it would become a city road and the city would maintain it, while Jim Owens Road itself would remain under county jurisdiction.
Staff said that under current approvals phase 4 (plat 5) is the segment that will connect to Jim Owens, and phase 5 (plat 6) would follow after that connection. Commissioners noted a recent property purchase enabled a potential through connection and that changing the approved phasing would require the developer to submit a new phasing plan and preliminary plat for Planning Commission review.
