Commission hears floodplain review and possible LOMA work for North Creek phase

Commissioners asked about floodplain impacts on the North Creek Plat 3 area. Staff said part of this phase is in a floodplain and that the city's floodplain management engineer reviewed it and the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) approved the plan. "Part of this phase is in a floodplain, that has been reviewed by our floodplain management, engineer, which is through our engineering. That that is, all been reviewed and approved, have been through DNR and approved," staff member Matt said.
Staff also said the developer is hopeful that some lots can be removed from the floodplain via a Letter of Map Amendment (LOMA) application. Commissioners noted where the watercourses run and discussed proximity to Little Blue and the Missouri River; no change to staff's recommendation was made based on the floodplain discussion.
